Both companies are part of the L-Mount alliance of mirrorless cameras. Before that, Panasonic had already shared its achievements with Leica. The Leica brand has an excellent reputation in the lens market, so when they have access to Panasonic technology, they can jointly create something truly noteworthy. The new stage of cooperation will be the next step for the development of photographic technologies.
"Through this collaboration, the two companies will jointly invest in new technologies that can be incorporated into camera and lens products, and will incorporate jointly developed technologies into each other's Leica and Lumix products to further enhance their product capabilities," the press release states.
This collaboration will affect L-Mount full-frame cameras and Micro Four Thirds models.
The results of this work are not yet available to the public. However, given the growing competition from other brands, Panasonic and Leica can be expected not to delay the process.
